Exporting hours for payroll

Easy Payroll Processing

TwoWork makes salary calculation easy with our simple export feature. In just a few clicks, you'll have all the time data you need in a well-organized Excel file.

Three Simple Steps to Export

1. Select Your Dates

Choose the start and end date that matches your payroll period. This will include all time registrations within this date range.

2. Choose Employees

Select which employees you want to include in the export. You can export everyone at once or create separate exports for different departments.

3. Locking Hours After Export (Optional)

To stop employees from changing their time entries after payroll is processed, turn on "Lock hours after export."

Once hours are locked:

  • Employees can’t edit or delete the exported time entries.
  • They can still add new entries within the exported period.

Any such subsequent entries are clearly marked as "added after lock" in the Excel export, so you can easily see whether anything was added after the payroll run.

If you need a reliable record for future reference or disputes, export and save the file in a secure place.

⚠️ Important:
Locking is permanent - you as the employer can’t unlock these hours later.

The numbers in the export are static

The totals in the exported Excel file are fixed values - they do not update automatically if you change individual entries. If you need to apply calculations (such as weekend rates or overtime), use an AI tool like ChatGPT to do the math. See Using ChatGPT for payroll calculations for a step-by-step guide.

What You Get when You Export

The Excel file you download contains:

  • A summary sheet with totals for each employee
  • Individual sheets with detailed day-by-day entries for each person
